Comments about A and E Cage Co. Palmetto Victorian Bird Cage:

This cage is great for my Blue and Gold macaw, who incidentally is 1600 grams. So choosing a large enough cage at the most practical price was tough, but this one is perfect. (Nearly perfect that is) [...] The cage itself is large and spacious, well built, but with some flaws. Two screws did not fit into the placement of the holes at all and stick out quite a ways, and a couple of bars were bent on the bottom above the wheels (not at all noticeable but if you're picky you may want to know.) Unless you are 8 feet tall, you won't be using the opening top, it's just not practical (the very top of the cage as in the dome top area, there is another door just above the main doors that is a little useful). I do LOVE the locks on this cage, my macaw is quite the escape artist, and if you have ever woken up to such a large bird in your face, staring you down in the morning, you know how important locks are! The cage does come with two perches, but don't expect to use one of them for anything other than the opening top. (Which is useless in my opinion.) That perch will not fit inside the cage at all, so prepare to spend upwards of $50 on a rope or another wood perch. It is not a size commonly sold in stores, so you may want to order one online. One of the three stainless steel bowls was rusted a bit, but easy enough to correct without returning it. Also, the boxes and the cage itself are EXTREMELY heavy. Getting both boxes (which are taped and tied together) into the house is a very difficult task. Putting the cage together is NOT a one person job! My husband is deployed, so I had to get the cage inside AND put it together by myself. It was not fun, and the instructions are more than a little lacking. It has absolutely no directions on how to put together the locks, which are brilliant, but it was difficult to figure out how they go into the cage itself. And hopefully it's delivered right before trash day, because the main box is extremely large with wood boards attached to it so it'll either be in your home, or outside, either way it is very unattractive. I hope this long, but thorough review helps!

Comments about A and E Cage Co. Palmetto Victorian Bird Cage:

Easy assembly for such a large cage, well built and practical. It is very heavy. Locks are also good and well thought out, this is the second one I bought, got one 3 or 4 years ago and is still good, houses a cockatoo.

Comments about A and E Cage Co. Palmetto Victorian Bird Cage:

Too wide for most doorways, so taking it outside for cleaning is not easy.
Perches supplied with the cage are useless, as they don't fit correctly and leave no access to the feeding bowls.
Reasonable quality cage that was fairly easy to assemble. Could benefit from a fourth bowl.

The convertable top does not line up correctly but other than that, this cage is beautiful. Took 2 to put it together and it does not fit through a standard doorway so keep that in mind. Very easy to clean!
